Family Fun in Natural Bridge, Virginia

Natural Bridge in Virginia is a great venue for family fun activities. Whether you’re in town for a day, weekend or longer vacation, there are plenty to do in Natural Bridge. Aside from the Natural Bridge, where the Rockbridge County got its name from, it features a wax museum, a cavern, haunted monster museum, foamhenge, toy museum and others.
Start your day by exploring the Natural Bridge Caverns, the deepest cavern in the east coast. Take a guided 45-minute subterranean journey and see the Colossal Dome, the amazing wishing well and the flowstone cascade. The cavern descends 347 feet into the earth—about 34 stories. The forms grow about an inch every 125 years and it’s quite fascinating. For information call 800.533.1410.
Next stop is the Natural Bridge Wax Museum where life size replicas of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, General Lee, Confederate soldiers and many others in an amazing display of narrated historical scenes. It’s delightful, inspiring and educational, not only to children but adults as well. Visitors can tour the wax museum factory and watch how these figures are made. For information call 800.323.8843.
Now, this is the part where the children will enjoy the most, the Toy Museum (pictured). The Natural Bridge Toy Museum is the world’s largest collection of toys memorabilia on display, from games to dolls to GI Joe’s, dating from 1740 to the 20th century. Take a look at over 45,000 items including the original Star Wars action figures, Original Star Trek playsets, antique dolls, Lionel trains, GI Joe and many others. For information call 540.291.9920.
Its time to get spooked and be entertained as you enter Professor Cline’s Haunted Monster Museum and Dino Kingdom. Professor Cline is famous for his set works on Alice Cooper’s stage shows. This is a bizarre and odd experience and yet, a lot of fun and excitement.
You’ll find yourself in the middle of the woods looking at towering dinosaurs on the grounds and even on trees. The Dino Kingdom is the oddest walk you’ll ever have, but will be among your favorite ones. Kids loved it. For information call 800.533.1410.
While you’re in Natural Bridge, check out the Foamhenge, it’s a replica of the Stonehenge made of, of course, foam. Its supposedly the same exact height as the original and learn about it in the process.
