Busch Gardens Europe, VirginiaEverybody knows that the two world-renowned themed parks, the Busch Gardens Europe and the Kings Dominion are located in Virginia. With exciting thrill rides and entertainment it’s going to be fun filled days for the whole family. Perhaps you didn’t know that Virginia also has plenty of water parks and fabulous zoos too.

Busch Gardens Europe

The Busch Gardens Europe (pictured) in Williamsburg was named the “World’s Most Beautiful Theme Park” by the National Amusement Park Historical Association. It features over 50 thrilling rides and attractions, ten main stage shows, a variety of world-class cuisine, shops and a fantastic children’s area.

Want a rush? Experience their newest coaster ride, the Griffon, where you’ll rise up 205 feet and plunge 90 degrees straight down at 70 mph. It’s a thrill.

Admission is $56.95 (ages 10 and over), $49.95 (ages 3 to 9), ages two and under are free. Busch Gardens Europe is open from mid-March to end of October.

Kings Dominion

This 400-acres of maximum family entertainment was voted as Virginia’s most exciting themed park. They have one of the largest coaster collections in the East Coast. Other features are two children’s areas, WaterWorks, a 19-acre water park, over 30 restaurants and live shows.

Water Country USA

Get wet and wild with the family at the Water Country USA, the largest water park in Virginia. The Water Country USA was voted one of America’s best water parks by the Travel Channel. It features more than 30 water rides and attractions, live entertainment, dining and shopping.

You can also enjoy the 1950s and 60’s surf theme. On cooler days, pools are heated to a comfortable 82 degrees. The park is open from May 10 - September 7. Ocean Breeze Water Park

The Ocean Breeze Water Park is the only water park at Virginia Beach. The park features 16 waterslides, the million-gallon Runaway Bay wave pool, the Buccaneer Bay water playground and other wonderful attractions.

Don’t forget to check out the private poolside cabanas, gift shop, West Indies BBQ and the Shipwreck Island Arcade. It’s open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day every summer. Admission fee varies. For schedule and hours of operation call 757.422.4444.

Natural Bridge Zoo

The Natural Bridge Zoo has the largest and most complete collection of exotic animals and birds in Virginia—over 400 specimens. It is also the breeding center for rare and endangered species.

The zoo is also one of the few to offer an African elephant ride (weekends). There’s also a picnic grounds and a Safari Gift Shop. Admission fee is $10 for adults, $9 for Senior Citizen and $8 for children (ages 3-12). For schedule and times call 540.291.2420.
